Cornelia Parker is the 13th artist to make a work for Ingleby Gallery's Billboard for Edinburgh project.
Parker's billboard image is a photograph of a new Red Hot Poker Drawing made especially for the project. Parker makes her Poker Drawings by folding layers of A4 paper then, as the title suggests, inserting a burning hot poker through different sections of the paper. The resulting image is brutal but at the same time hauntingly beautiful.
About Billboard for Edinburgh: Billboard for Edinburgh is a unique public art and print publishing project. Every three months an artist is invited to make a work for the 10ft x 13.5ft billboard high up on the end wall of Ingleby Gallery, in the heart of Edinburgh's city centre. As part of the project, each artist also realises their image as a limited edition print, published in an edition of 50. Sales of the print help to support the project.Visit the Prints & Editions section of the website for details of Cornelia Parker's limited edition print.
The three other participants in Billboard for Edinburgh: Year 4 (August 2011 - July 2012) will be Ryan Gander, Ruth Ewan and Anya Gallaccio.
