Julian Stair makes the best sort of functional art. His strong, simple tableware in porcelain and red stoneware sits as easily on a domestic dinner table as in the collections of the British Council, and the Victoria and Albert Museum. He makes forms that are clean and clear and satisfyingly substational - teapots and caddies, cups, bowls and plates that are wonderful to look at, hold, and use.
