NOW is the Scottish National Gallery of Modern Art's dynamic three-year series of contemporary art exhibitions. The fifth instalment in the series will be centred on a major survey of work by Anya Gallaccio.
Exploring themes of change, growth and decay, the other artists appearing in NOW are Charles Avery, Aurelien Froment, Roger Hiorns, Peles Empire and Zineb Sedira.
Charles Avery will be exhibiting Untitled (Dihedra) as part of the presentation at the SNGMA.
"The Dihedra are beings of infinate finesse. Their wings are so thin that they only have one side. They reproduce by chance when their pinions overlap and another dihedron emerges from the union. At some stage in their life cycle they flutter off into the sky and become giant Dihedra which ominously circle the world high above before evaporating. When seen from the sea they indeed appear giant. It is as though some kind of refraction takes place, for when viewed from the land they appear the same size that they always were, just further away." - Charles Avery, The Islanders: An Introduction, 2008
