Winter Light
Southbank Centre, London
November 2020 - February 2021
At a time when we view so much of the world through digital screens, the artists in this exhibition celebrate how the medium of light can transform physical spaces.
Sixty minute Spectrum, 2018 by David Batchelor illuminates the roof of the Hayward Gallery as a form of chromatic clock, cycling through the entire colour spectrum over the course of an hour, and Katie Paterson's Totality, 2016 is installed in the Hayward Gallery foyer, a mirror- ball comprised of over 10,000 unique images of solar eclipses.
This group exhibition featuring more than 15 artworks and new commissions is installed across the Southbank Centre's buildings and along the riverfront. The exhibition is free and is visible from outdoor locations around the Southbank Centre site, from dusk until late. Artworks will be added to the site until the exhibition is fully realised in mid-December. For further details visit the Southbank Centre website here
