A remarkable and varied array of important items enters public collections in the UK every year through the Cultural Gifts and Acceptance in Lieu (AIL) schemes, in most instances at no cost to the recipient institution. The annual report demonstrates the continued success of these schemes in securing important works that contribute to public understanding and enjoyment of our heritage in museums, galleries, libraries and archives across the country.
Two of the works in the Kirkland collection – one by David Austen and one by David Batchelor– have been allocated to Sheffield Museums.
