The first annual SYNTHESIS exhibition is the result of an international cultural exchange programme between artists based in Scotland and Japan, devised by curators Scott Hunter and Sam Chapman. Oana Stanciu, alongside Danielle Macleod, incorporate elements of sculpture and surrealism into their practice, whilst their Japanese counterparts, Gak Yamada and Yuichiro Higashiji, take a contemplative and conceptual approach to image-making. The resulting collaboration and collective experiment is exhibited in this group show.
As a continuation of this cultural exchange SYNTHESIS will be exhibited at Art Spot Korin, Kyoto, in October 2023.
