This book is a fully illustrated text of a lecture given by Sean Scully at the Institut Valencia d'Art Modern on 4 May, 2004. It deals with many of the themes that have engaged his art over the past 20 years and presents, in his own inimitable voice, a sense of where these powerful paintings come from.


This is the first of Scully's lectures to be presented in book form and we are delighted to publish it in celebration of his second exhibition at the Ingleby Gallery.
